School Increases FUNDrive® Success Using Clever Competition

Written by: Lauren Padilla, Director of Development and Marketing — Immaculate Conception School , November 13, 2018

Immaculate Conception School provides education for students from early childhood through middle school. Our school has less than 200 students from the Boston area, so we are always looking for effective fundraising ideas. We learned about the FUNDrive® program and were excited for the opportunity to raise funds for our school through something as simple as a clothing drive. It was both exciting and rewarding to see how enthused our school community was to donate to our school. We were able to get everyone involved!

The Immaculate Conception School Community loves to work together and had fun doing so during our October FUNDrive. For some added friendly competition, we held a contest among the grade levels to see which could bring in the most bags of clothing. The winning grade would receive a “free dress day”—no uniforms! Who knew how motivating this would be?! This challenge drove both parents and students to clean out their closets even more in order to win this prize for their classroom.

Overall, our school and community helped bring in an impressive 364 bags, that’s nearly 4,000 pounds of soft goods! Grade 3 won the competition by collecting 100 bags and Grade 7 followed close behind with 96 bags. Fun was had by all and the FUNDrive was a huge success. We raised almost $1,000 which will go towards various programing for our students.

This fundraiser was fun and easy, so we plan to host another FUNDrive in the future. The Immaculate Conception School Community is grateful to all the volunteers who worked to organize such a successful event. The FUNDrive brought our school closer together in the name of community service.
