40 Bags in 40 Days℠ Decluttering Challenge—Join the challenge to jump start your FUNDrive® event

Written by: Ladaska Burton, Marketing Manager—FUNDrive® Digital, March 05, 2019

There’s something about a challenge that gets people fired up. Have you ever joined one of those fitness tracker step challenges? Intense, right? However, as involved as those challenges can get, there’s a comradery that comes from them that is pretty amazing. You can take that same enthusiasm and apply it to long form declutter challenges and your next FUNDrive® fundraiser.

Most of us are familiar with the notion of decluttering our homes. The 40 Bags in 40 Days℠ Decluttering challenge is a daily challenge that encourages you to focus on one area of your home a day. Each day for 40 days, you fill a garbage bag with items in your home you no longer need. While you can do this challenge alone, it’s most effective (and more fun) while following along with friends.

FUNDrive® is excited to renew its 40 Bags in 40 Days℠ partnership with White House Black Shutters. This is the second year FUNDrive has partnered with Ann Marie Heasley, who is a guru in the declutter arena. You can follow along with Ann Marie and use her guides to ensure your success in reaching a less cluttered space by the end of the challenge. Visit the 40 Bags in 40 Days℠ section of her site to download checklists, sign up for her daily email course and join a special Facebook group just for those who are taking on the challenge.

So you’ve signed up for the challenge and you and your friends are producing bags of clothing and household items left and right. Now what? You guessed it. All those items can be put aside for your next FUNDrive® fundraiser. Let’s do the math: 40 lawn sized trash bags times 10 of your closest friends equals 400 bags towards your next event. That’s 400 bags without sending out the first email or posting from your nonprofit’s social media accounts. What a start! While the official 2019 challenge runs March 6 through April 20, it is not too late to join midstream or after the fact. Visit White House Black Shutters to join or use the techniques discussed.
